Usually the deadline to send an application for Early Decision to an university or college is during November to early December. You can only apply Early Decision to ONE college. AND if the college accepts you MUST attend this college/university and notify all other schools you had applied to that school. You should ONLY apply Early Decision when you are certain that this college is your first choice college. Applying Early Decision often gives you a better chance of getting in but you must be aware that you are obliged to attend the college once accepted (unless a very serious reason prevents you from attending)
Note: Not all college/universities offer early decision.
