TOEFL Information
TOEFL only really concerns international students or students who just arrived to the U.S. recently.
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) tests the individual’s use and comprehension of American English at a college level. It is required for non-native applicants at many American colleges and universities. The TOEFL is the product of Educational Testing Service (ETS) and is contracted by the private, non-profit firm, the College Board.
Some colleges or universities may translate a high TOEFL score to be use as a sort of substitute for a lower verbal SAT score. So sometimes a high TOEFL score can be used to compensate for a poor verbal SAT score.
