This is rather mixed news. College tuition increases for the 2005-2006 academic year has slowed down to single-digits. The national average for public four-year college tuition and fees grew 7.2 percent. Private university tuition and fees grew 5.9 percent. Two-year community college tuition and fees grew by 5.4 percent.
However, there are alarming trends such as student loans increasing faster than grant aid. And even with the slower tuition increase, one industry expert felt that with the economy recovering, the tuition increase could have been lessened even more.
