Tablet PCS?

Filed under: College Advice — Peter @ 1:39 pm

With Tablet PCs out a while and finally now decently priced. You may want to consider getting a tablet PC instead of a laptop or in addition to a desktop.

Advantages of a Tablet PC – Take notes (in multiple colors if you like!) on the tablet and it’ll always be with you. – Having less to carry! – You can do your homework on your tablet pc and you’ll have a copy even after you turn it in. – Great for when a professor reviews homework which has been turned in already. – Easily search through your notes. – With hard mathematical questions you can use Maple or Graphical Analysis to help you plot things. – Easily past Graphs or equations and incorporate them into your homework. – Easily print out copies of your notes for friends that may have missed the class. – Carry all your homework, notes, and planner with you all the time.

Disadvantages of a Tablet PC – The need to print out all your homework and the printer breaks or runs out of ink. – As with most portable computers, battery life may not be great. You may need to carry an extra battery or have to charge it between classes. – Your tablet breaks and you lose everything. (Back-up up your stuff frequently!) – The battery runs out of juice during a class.
